The Wait

This is something we have to get use to for sure. My wait was different than Kyle's wait today. I was up at 7am, not rested at all from the lack of sleep the night before. I had everything ready to go and I just needed to be patient and that's the hardest thing in the world on days like these. I took my time getting ready and eating breakfast. I was planning on heading to the hotel I booked for us before I went to the airport. I wanted to be there before noon and needed to leave at 10am to get there. Well it was snowing outside, so my plan of lugging all my stuff through the subways failed. I called a cab instead which meant I didn't need to leave till 11am now. Another hour of wait time. I was so ready to go when the can driver showed up. It was my first time using Uber and I'm so glad I did. The driver was fantastic and was so excited for me when I told him my plans for that day.

I booked us a room at the Springhill Hotel and Suites and had called ahead to make sure I could come check in early because I had a plan. Since Kyle and I couldn't physically be with each other on Christmas, I was making Christmas for us! That's why I got the hotel and was there at noon, 4 hours before he landed. Everyone at the hotel was very helpful and excited for me!

I did not expect the room to look like it did though. I was in shock, in a good way. It really was a suite, it was huge! With 2 full bathrooms, a bedroom, living room and even mini stovetop and fridge. There was tons of room too. After I took it all in for a minute I got to work on decorating the room. I had a my mini Christmas tree and decorated it with lights and ornaments. I hung his stocking and put presents under the tree. I had prepared dinner too, baked potato soup with all the fixings. I had that in my new crockpot from Christine and a pitcher of sangria in the fridge. Now that I look back on it I can't believe I transported a full crockpot and full pitcher of sangria without spilling a drop! Skills. I finished decorating the room faster than I thought it would take and once again I had more time to sit and wait. So I took a video of the room all decorated. I even had time to paint my nails.

KYLE POST VIDEO HERE

Once I couldn't last any longer I headed down to the front desk only to find that the 7 trains weren't running and that they wouldn't be for a long time. So again, I had to take a cab. They called one for me and I only wanted him to take me to the train stop because Kyle and I were going to have to take a cab back from the airport. Guess what shows up as my cab? A limo. All the time before Kyle flew out he joked about taking a limo home from the airport and here I was taking it a few blocks to the train station. I couldn't wait to tell Kyle, and soon I would be able to in person!!

I made it to the airport an hour before he landed. I didn't bring anything with me but my phone, credit card, room key and metro card. I didn't have much to entertain myself and it was torture trying to contain my excitement!! I kept checking kayak to see where his plane was.
Ugh where is he?! This is where I waited for him, forever...

Finally after over two hours, he walked through those doors that I had been staring at forever. I couldn't even hold still I wanted to just run up and grab him but I had to wait for him to come past the line into the waiting zone. But I couldn't wait any longer and when he was almost to me I giddly jumped into his arms! Finally!!
Finally, Together at last!

Bringing the Cooking Lessons Home

We left the hotel at the Neapolitan time of 10ish or 11ish and headed back to the town to find some breakfast. We parked in another paid parking lot so Kyle was happy. After breakfast we looked in a couple of shops after to see if we could find a ravioli cutter but still no luck. So weird. It was so nice out again, such good luck with the weather. We found another cute look out area that was apart of the "public gardens" we found in the guidebook at the hotel. It was just a little area with benches and the look out, not many flowers or garden like things.  When we were walking back to the car we saw this sign on a wood shop and I had to take a photo for dad. I thought it was so clever! Still on a mission for a ravioli cutter we headed towards Pozzuoli to try and go to their "Costco-Like" or "Walmart-Like" stores they have. One is called Leroy Merlin and the other is Auchan. The one we went to was apart of this huge mall. Kyle and I h...

Sorrento Cooking Class

We lived like true Italians today. Woke up, cooked a huge meal, ate that huge meal, took a nap then started over again. The whole day was full of great pleasures for the both of us and so fulfilling! Literally! We started the cooking class at 10am this morning. It was held in this huge kitchen at the resort we are staying at. Chef Mina was our teacher and she usually has an interpreter but she didnt today which was fine because we thought her English was pretty good. She also knew German which Kyle knows too so that was helpful! She was from Germany originally and then moved to Italy so German is her first language then Italian then English. We both got aprons to wear and started with making a pizza dough from scratch. Mina used live yeast which is something I've never worked with before. Kyle and I both took turns kneading the dough. He was hesitant at first but he did good! Mina covered the dough ball and put it in the oven to rise. After that we made the marinara sa...

Baking Around goes to Italy

Since I couldn't be here for Kyles actual birthday, I made him a cake today instead! Today was the first day I went out on my own. I accomplished ordering a cappuccino and going to the market all by myself! Such an accomplishment. I loved going to the market and looking at everything. I'm pretty sure I was asked like 10 times if I needed help because I would just stand there and stare at all the packaging. This is what I bought to bake a cake with, they even had candles too! It took me about an hour to figure out how to use the oven though. I pretty much took the whole thing apart (not the first time I've taken an oven apart) to find out that you need to light it with a lighter. Luckily the internet was working today so I also went online and searched for the manual for about 30 minutes. Once I decoded that I was ready to bake a cake! Now baking in another country, not terribly difficult...but baking in Kyles kitchen?! Thats another story. The poor guy doesn't reall...
