No Power!

It was super hot out today! Which didn't work out well for me when the power decided to go out on me. Mom you would have been miserable. Apparently you can't have more than 3 things on at a time. I had the washer and dryer both on at the same time and I guess that was too much for this poor apartment. Not good on a hot day because that means no AC! I had just come back from my walk too and so I was overheated from that and to come back to a hot house, oh not cool. Literally. (See what I did there, Findley's/Fabrizio's I know you'll appreciate that one)

Ok so I knew we have things on the wall that have something to do with something but the problem is A. I know very little if anything about these things and B. Everything is in Italian.
So I pull out my phone and started translating all the boxes we have on the walls so I could figure out which one had to do with the power. I was super nervous because one also has to do with the alarm system and I didn't want to touch that one at all. I had messaged Kyle to tell him the problem but didn't hear back for a while. When he finally got back to me he walked me through what I needed to do.

So these switches were good, they were all on and even when I turned them off the back on nothing happened.

It was this guy that was the problem. Kyle knew instantly when I sent him a picture of it, the switch on the bottom was down. I didn't even see that, I was just trying to figure out what the screen said for about 30 minutes then why it was red and what would happen if I pushed that button. No thought went through my mind about the switch at the bottom, but also I didn't want to do anything wrong and have him come home to a broken box.

And let there be light! That switch was the problem. I guess having the washer and dryer on at the same time was too much.

Later that night while making dinner, I decided it was a good idea to chop my finger instead of the garlic  I was chopping. That wasn't good at all, and of course we don't have bandaids so Kyle fashioned this beauty. Fancy huh?

Also because I was injured and helpless, Kyle had to do the dishes which was nice. I got to sit back and relax and watch him attempt cleaning. It was quite entertaining and very nice to just sit there too. The cut was pretty deep and got all the way into my nail too, I won't show a photo of that (mainly because I would never take a picture of something like that, and didn't) but you get the idea. I'm also not one for blood so sitting was a really good idea for me.

Bringing the Cooking Lessons Home

We left the hotel at the Neapolitan time of 10ish or 11ish and headed back to the town to find some breakfast. We parked in another paid parking lot so Kyle was happy. After breakfast we looked in a couple of shops after to see if we could find a ravioli cutter but still no luck. So weird. It was so nice out again, such good luck with the weather. We found another cute look out area that was apart of the "public gardens" we found in the guidebook at the hotel. It was just a little area with benches and the look out, not many flowers or garden like things.  When we were walking back to the car we saw this sign on a wood shop and I had to take a photo for dad. I thought it was so clever! Still on a mission for a ravioli cutter we headed towards Pozzuoli to try and go to their "Costco-Like" or "Walmart-Like" stores they have. One is called Leroy Merlin and the other is Auchan. The one we went to was apart of this huge mall. Kyle and I h...

Baking Around goes to Italy

Since I couldn't be here for Kyles actual birthday, I made him a cake today instead! Today was the first day I went out on my own. I accomplished ordering a cappuccino and going to the market all by myself! Such an accomplishment. I loved going to the market and looking at everything. I'm pretty sure I was asked like 10 times if I needed help because I would just stand there and stare at all the packaging. This is what I bought to bake a cake with, they even had candles too! It took me about an hour to figure out how to use the oven though. I pretty much took the whole thing apart (not the first time I've taken an oven apart) to find out that you need to light it with a lighter. Luckily the internet was working today so I also went online and searched for the manual for about 30 minutes. Once I decoded that I was ready to bake a cake! Now baking in another country, not terribly difficult...but baking in Kyles kitchen?! Thats another story. The poor guy doesn't reall...

Lazy Thursday and The Empire Strikes Back

We returned from Sorrento yesterday and decided to make this a day of rest.  We woke up around noon and shuffled around the house, making a little breakfast and coffee.  I worked on some homework and Laura played on her computer.  We finally got out of the house and went shopping in Pozzuoli.  First we stopped at a record and sound system store, which I am convinced was a shop selling stolen goods.  I told Laura and she said it wasn't, but I told her it's not normal to sell items without the box.  Almost every item in that store was out of the box and "used", but I digress.  We stopped by the supermarket called Conad that's near my house and picked up some groceries.  When we got home, we chilled some Prosecco and Laura made a cheese and crackers plate for us.  We sat on the balcony and watched the sun set behind the hills of Bacoli, talking about the past week and how much fun we had.  After that, Laura prepared dinner and we decide...
